Trustee Elections

Dear Members,

In light of the tragedy that occurred at the Truth and Reconciliation Ceremony on Wednesday morning at Tsawwassen Mills, and for everyone’s safety, the Trustee Forum scheduled for this evening will be cancelled.

The Delta Teachers’ Association, CUPE 1091, and the Delta District Parent Advisory Committee agreed that, out of respect for the Tsawwassen First Nation community, Indigenous members and community members, and the trustees who were present and may have witnessed the trauma of these events, it would not be appropriate to proceed with the forum at this time.

We hope you will understand the reasoning behind this decision and appreciate the circumstances that have led us to cancel this evening’s forum.

The three associations will rely on the information gathered through the first forum, the responses to our questionnaire, and our conversations at the Coffee and Chat event when considering endorsements for the upcoming election. Endorsements, if any, will be announced on Friday.

Our thoughts and sincere condolences to the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations, and all those affected in this moment of unimaginable loss.

We have been told that the District is mobilizing today to offer support to staff, and if you need our help please don’t hesitate to call the office today. You may need to take the day. Look after yourself. Don’t forget you can also access Telus health and BCTF Health and Wellness.
