Delta Teachers' Association: Health and Safety Overview

The Delta Teachers’ Association (DTA) is committed to ensuring safe and healthy workplaces for all teachers.

Collaboration for Safety

The DTA Health and Safety Chair works with CUPE and School District Staff, including the Health and Safety Officer, to:

  1. Promote and assist in creating safe work practices and environments;

  2. Recommend actions to improve the effectiveness of the occupational health and safety program;

  3. Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations;

  4. Address district-wide health and safety trends and issues.

Workers' Rights Under the Workers Compensation Act

All workers are entitled to:

  1. Know the dangers present in their workplace;
  2. Participate in workplace health and safety activities;
  3. Refuse unsafe work (know the proper process);
  4. Be protected from discrimination for engaging in health and safety activities.
